QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

FAQ.

All the questions worth asking, answered plainly. The short version of every answer: yes, your keys are yours.

Ten chains: Solana · Ethereum · Base · Arbitrum · Polygon · HyperEVM · Tron · TON · Sui · Bitcoin. Each is a distinct L1 or L2 with its own validators, fees, and finality — all derived from one 12-word recovery phrase. (EVM-compatible chains like Optimism, BNB, Scroll, zkSync are roadmapped — same seed, same addresses, just need verification.)
No. They're generated on your device, encrypted with your PIN, and only the encrypted blob is stored on our relay. We can't decrypt it. We can't sign for you. We can't freeze your funds.
Three ways back: (1) your 12-word recovery phrase, (2) Telegram-contact guardians (2-of-3 of your friends approve), (3) re-install FOB on your new phone, sign in with Telegram, enter your PIN. Pick the level of paranoia that fits you.
You're fine. FOB is non-custodial — your funds don't depend on Telegram. Use your recovery phrase or guardians from any device with any Telegram account. Custodial wallets (looking at you, @wallet) cannot make this claim.
No. We build on Telegram's platform but we're independent. Your funds and your account are separate concerns.
Yes. Self-custody means no licenses to obtain, no regions to lock out. If you can install Telegram, you can use FOB.
In RAM, on your device, only while a sign request is open. The encrypted ciphertext at rest is on our relay (so you can roam across devices); we never see the plaintext. Keychain (iOS) and Keystore (Android) hold the wrapping key.
Pay-as-you-go. Top up with TON, USDC, USDT, or Telegram Stars. ~$0.50–$2 per typical transaction depending on chain. Cheaper than buying ETH just to send ETH.
Yes. Any 12 or 24-word BIP-39 phrase works. Phantom, MetaMask, Solflare, Tonkeeper, Suiet — all compatible.
A fob is the small thing on your keychain — pocketable, tactile, present-on-your-person. That's the wallet.
FOB charges zero spread on direct DEX routes, and inline-pay protocol fee is $0.02 on $100. For comparison: @wallet charges 0.9% ($0.90 on $100). Network gas is paid separately from Battery — see the Wallet page for how that works.
When you set up FOB, you pick 3 Telegram friends. Each friend receives a one-time setup DM from @fobwallet_bot. When you need to recover (lost phone, new device), 2 of the 3 friends each receive a DM asking them to approve your recovery — they tap "yes" and FOB unwraps your encrypted blob from the relay using their Telegram session keys. No crypto knowledge required from them. No hex strings to memorize.
Every transaction above your set limit (default $1,000) needs a second tap from @fob_2fa_bot — a separate Telegram bot, in a separate DM, on a separate session, with separate encryption. If your phone is stolen, an attacker still needs the 2FA bot session. Set your limit in FOB Settings → Safety.
FOB routes through the best of Jupiter (Solana), 1inch + 0x (EVM), STON.fi + DeDust (TON), Cetus (Sui), and Li.Fi (cross-chain). Quote is refreshed every 4 seconds; routes that beat each other by <0.05% rotate so you see live updates. Zero spread on direct DEX routes — what you see is what you get.
Yes. The Mini App runs in Telegram Desktop (macOS, Windows, Linux, web.telegram.org). Inline pay works in all clients. The 12-word phrase is the same — derive on phone, sign on desktop, vice versa.
A small Battery margin (we pay network gas, you pay Battery, the difference covers ops). A tiny swap fee (0.05–0.15% depending on route, all on-chain). That's it. No fees to receive. No fees to send to FOB users. No "premium tier". No selling user data — there isn't any to sell.
Your keys are on your device. Your 12-word phrase recovers them on any other wallet (Phantom, MetaMask, Tonkeeper, etc.) — they're BIP-39 standard. Self-custody means we cannot brick your funds.
Telegram has inline-mode bots, Mini Apps, bot DMs, and 900M users. No other messenger has all four. Discord and iMessage have no inline-bot primitive. WhatsApp has no bot platform. The Telegram primitives are the reason FOB can exist.

Open FOB.

Tap the menu button. Pick a PIN. Save your 12 words. Send to your first @username in under 30 seconds.
